DJI’s Avata 360 drone captures full‑sphere 8K video with dual sensors, streams FPV up to 20 km, and adds omnidirectional obstacle sensing — but it won’t be sold in the US.  



The most striking detail is the storage: 42 gigabytes built into the drone itself, enough for about thirty minutes of 8K footage before you even touch a memory card.

The Avata 360 weighs about 455 grams, roughly one pound, and carries two 1/1.1‑inch CMOS sensors.

Each sensor delivers 64 megapixels, combining for 120‑megapixel stills and 8K/60fps HDR video in full 360 degrees.

In plain terms, that means you can capture everything around the drone at once, then reframe the footage later into multiple angles. It’s a way of turning one flight into several shots.  

Transmission is handled by DJI’s O4+ system, which streams a 1080p/60fps live feed up to 20 kilometers away.

That’s double the range of many competitors, and it matters because FPV — first‑person view — flying depends on a stable, low‑latency feed. 

Pilots wear goggles that show the drone’s perspective in real time, so any lag or drop in quality directly affects control.  

Flight time is about 23 minutes per battery. That’s shorter than some rivals, like the Antigravity A1 which manages 39 minutes, but DJI is trading endurance for imaging power. 

The Avata 360’s larger sensors and dual‑lens setup draw more energy, and the integrated prop guards add weight.  

Obstacle sensing is omnidirectional, including a Nightscape mode that uses LiDAR to detect hazards in low light. 

Combined with propeller guards, it’s designed to keep the drone safe even during aggressive FPV maneuvers. If the front lens is damaged, DJI sells a replacement kit that can be swapped in the field.  

The drone supports two modes: full 360 capture and single‑lens filming. In single‑lens mode, it shoots classic Avata‑style footage at 4K/60fps.

Switching between modes lets creators choose between immersive spherical video and traditional cinematic shots without changing hardware.  

Pricing starts at €459 for the drone alone, with the Fly More Combo at €939. 

Shipping begins in April 2026, but only in Europe and select regions. 

The US market is excluded due to FCC import restrictions, meaning American buyers won’t see official sales.  

The Avata 360 signals a shift in drone design: imaging first, endurance second. By embedding dual sensors, onboard storage, and long‑range transmission, 

DJI is pushing FPV drones into professional territory. The question now is whether creators will accept shorter flight times in exchange for footage that can be reframed endlessly.
