DJI’s newest drones weigh just 249 grams — light enough to slip under many aviation registration thresholds, yet still pack 4K/60fps video, omnidirectional obstacle sensing, and flight times stretching to 37 minutes.

The Lito Series arrives with two models: the Lito 1 at $309 and the Lito X1 at $379. Both fold down to the size of a paperback, measuring 144 x 94 x 62 mm when stowed, and expand to 183 x 251 x 79 mm in flight. Despite their compact frames, they’re rated for wind speeds up to 24 mph and temperatures from -10 °C to 40 °C. That means they’re not just toys for calm summer evenings — they’re built to handle real-world conditions.

Battery performance is identical across the pair. A standard pack delivers up to 23 minutes in the air, while the Plus battery stretches that to 37 minutes. Charging is straightforward: 73 minutes inside the drone, or 45 minutes with a hub that can handle three batteries at once. Transmission range varies between 21 and 32 km depending on conditions, which is far beyond what most casual flyers will ever need.

Vertical 2.7K video isn’t a gimmick — it’s DJI’s nod to TikTok and Instagram creators.”

Imaging is where DJI has leaned into social media trends. Both drones shoot JPEG and RAW stills, and video at up to 4K/60fps. But they also support 2.7K vertical video — a nod to TikTok and Instagram creators who want native portrait footage without awkward cropping. Shooting modes are automated: ActiveTrack keeps subjects framed, QuickShots run preset flight paths, MasterShots generate polished clips automatically, Hyperlapse captures time-lapse motion, and Panorama stitches wide views.

The differences between the two models are subtle but telling. The Lito 1 relies on microSD storage, while the X1 carries 42 GB of internal memory. Both feature omnidirectional obstacle sensing, but the X1 adds forward-facing LiDAR. LiDAR — short for Light Detection and Ranging — uses lasers to build a 3D map of the environment, measuring distances with precision that cameras can’t match. It’s the kind of feature usually reserved for higher-end drones, now appearing in a sub-$400 model.

Camera specs diverge slightly. The X1’s lens opens wider at f/1.7 with a 24-mm equivalent focal length, compared to f/1.8 and 26.2 mm on the Lito 1. Resolution is nearly identical: 8064 x 6048 pixels versus 8000 x 6000. For most users, those numbers won’t translate into noticeable differences, but professionals chasing low-light performance will appreciate the wider aperture.

There are limits. Neither drone is waterproof, so rain means an immediate landing. DJI recommends drying thoroughly before reuse. But the company has added a simulator app for iOS and Android, letting beginners practice without risking hardware. File transfers are handled by QuickTransfer, pushing data at 50 MB/s over Wi-Fi 6 — fast enough to move a day’s worth of clips in minutes.

Availability is uneven. Both drones are certified in Europe, but import restrictions introduced in December 2025 mean they’re unlikely to reach the United States. For creators elsewhere, though, the Lito Series represents a rare combination: entry-level pricing with features that feel distinctly premium.

The forward-looking detail here isn’t just the specs. It’s the way DJI is reshaping expectations of what “entry-level” means. A drone under 250 grams, with LiDAR, 4K vertical video, and long-range transmission, sets a new baseline. The next wave of creators won’t be asking whether they can afford professional features — they’ll be asking how quickly they can put them to use.  Watch Video Below:
