Konami has kicked off 2026 with a surprise hit. According to ComicBook.com,

the publisher’s latest release, Super Bomberman Collection,

has quickly climbed the charts to become one of the highest-rated games of the year so far.
Konami’s Surprise Hit of 2026

The collection, which bundles together seven Bomberman titles — including two that had never been localized in the West until now — is available across multiple platforms: Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.

On Metacritic, the game currently holds an 86 score, placing it in a five-way tie for the second-highest-rated release of 2026.

While that score may shift as more major titles launch later in the year, it’s a strong showing for Konami,

especially given the company’s mixed track record in recent years.

The Bomberman franchise, known for its fast-paced multiplayer battles and quirky charm,

has long been a cult favorite,

and this collection appears to have struck the right balance between nostalgia and accessibility.

For fans, the release is more than just a trip down memory lane —

it’s a reminder of Konami’s enduring ability to revive classic IPs

and make them relevant for modern audiences.

With new Castlevania projects also on the horizon, the company seems poised to reassert itself as a major player in the gaming industry.
